April 9th, 2011 – NC Highway Patrol said Ava Kendall, 6, was a passenger in a Honda Accord on her way to a wedding with two bridesmaids. They were heading toward Greenville when a Jeep Cherokee crossed the center line and hit the car head on, according to troopers.

“When I arrived at the scene there was a lot of people standing around in tuxedos and bridesmaids dresses. And there was two vehicles, one in the middle of the road with extensive damage to it, the other vehicle was upside down in the shoulder,” explained Sgt. William Crane.

The bride, Rachel Jones, said she came across the crash on the way to the church and knew right away.

The driver of the SUV and the two bridesmaids, 22 and 13, were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators think distracted driving might have caused the wreck.
